SCR Elektroniks Short-time Over Current Test Equipment

Short-time Overcurrent Test Equipment is used to measure and analyze the influence of short-time overcurrents on energy meter. This test is described in various standards for energy meters such as IEC 62053, IS 13779 etc.
As per CEI / IEC 62053, short-time overcurrents shall not damage the meter. The meter shall perform correctly when back to its initial working condition and the variation of error shall not exceed particular values specified on basis of the class of the energy meter.
The Short-time Overcurrent Test Equipment is suitable for testing the influence of Short-time overcurrents on all types of energy meters that should confirm to or exceed the requirements of national and international standards. STOC 01/02/03 is appropriate for use by test laboratories, research & development centers & manufacturers for conformity assessment services, research and type testing. This test is mandatory for electronic and electromechanical energy meters supplied to energy distribution companies that insist listing of the meter by reputable assessment agencies.
The STOC 01/02 briefly consists of a power circuit and a control panel. The power circuit feeds the ‘overcurrent’ to the UUT. The control panel provides the user interface to adjust the parameters as per the requirements of the standards and the UUT.

*STOC 01
The STOC 01 is a Short-Time Over Current (STOC) Test Equipment designed to evaluate the performance of energy meters under high inrush current, as per standards like IEC 62053 and IS 13779. It operates on a 3-phase 415 V, 50 Hz ±10 % power supply, with a default input current limit of 40 A. It offers output current ranging from 50 A to 3000 A, divided into two sub-ranges: 50–500 A and 100–3000 A. The output duration can be set in two modes: fast mode (10 ms for ≥150 A) and slow mode (500 ms for <500 A), adjustable from 10 ms to 1000 ms, up to 99 cycles. The system has a compliance voltage of 5 V. Measurement is done using a transient recording meter with two output signal ranges (0–500 mV or 0–300 mV), and a dedicated output is available for oscilloscope connection. The equipment is panel-mounted with a variac housed on caster wheels, and safety features include electronic time cut-off and primary fuses. Current output termination is available through bus bars (Common, 500 A, and 3000 A), ensuring convenient connectivity to energy meter terminals. *STOC 02 The STOC 02 model is similar in construction to STOC 01 but supports higher output current, making it suitable for more demanding testing requirements. It maintains the same 3-phase 415 V, 50 Hz ±10 % input with a 40 A default limit. The output current ranges from 50 A to 5000 A, divided into two sub-ranges: 50–500 A and 100–5000 A. Output timing supports both fast and slow modes (10 ms for ≥150 A, 500 ms for <500 A), adjustable from 10 ms to 1000 ms, up to 99 cycles. The compliance voltage increases to 7 V. It features the same transient recording meter with output ranges of 0–300 mV. The unit includes panel mounting with variac on caster wheels, electronic protection with fuses, oscilloscope output, and bus bar terminations for Common, 500 A, and 5000 A connections. It is suitable for laboratories, meter manufacturers, and R&D institutions that require medium to high-level overcurrent testing. *STOC 03 The STOC 03 is the most powerful model in this series, designed to test energy meters up to 10000 A short-time overcurrent. It operates on a 3-phase 415 V, 50 Hz ±10 % supply with a default current input limit of 100 A. The output current ranges from 100 A to 10000 A, with two output ranges: 100–1000 A and 200–10000 A. It supports the same output duration settings (10 ms fast mode, 500 ms slow mode), programmable from 10 ms to 1000 ms, up to 99 cycles. The compliance voltage is 7 V. Measurement is carried out using a transient recording meter with two signal output ranges of 0–300 mV, and there is an oscilloscope output option. Like the other models, it features a variac panel design on wheels, fuse and electronic time protection, and heavy-duty current termination via bus bars (Common, 1000 A, and 10000 A). This unit is ideal for high-end laboratories and test centers needing extreme high-current testing for type testing or quality assurance.
